bega river bike path

If you happen to be near Bega in NSW, check out the Bega River bike path which covers over 5 kilometres and is accessible to pedestrians and cyclists and skikers.  Much has been done in recent years to rehabilitate the river and surrounding land. The waterways have been cleaned up along with replanting of native species and weed eradication.

Fellow skiker, John tells us that most of the path is relatively flat and fast but be aware of gravel washouts in some spots that can pose some risk, especially when skiking in poor light.

The path commences at North Bega, near the Bega Cheese Heritage Centre, and winds around Kiss' Lagoon, linking the existing path constructed by the Lions Club to the Bega River Reserve. The path extends around the Old Bega Racecourse and Bega River Anabranch joining the existing bike path along Tarraganda Road.
